On November 3^rd we elected the newest members of our municipal government. The council members-elect are: Anne Carpenter, Jim Donnelly and Scott Lee. Congratulations! Special thanks are in order to Bill Hunkapiller, Brian Strasburg and Steve Throckmorton for their community service in offering to serve and their participation in the process. Thanks also to our Homeowner Association Presidents for conducting the Candidates Forum, to our poll workers and others who contributed behind the scenes.

This was our first election in 4 years. Of 1,177 registered voters only 253 voted. Each voter was effectively a proxy for almost 4 others! While this is not unusual for us in a non- contentious election, we will hopefully do even better in the future. Our next election is in 2 years at which time we will select a new mayor and 2 council members.

In support of the election process, the Berkeley Lake Community Website (http://BerkLake.org) published election information, candidate statements, forum responses and provided other election support services. Infrequent (but timely) e-mail notices were also sent to all citizens.
