Presented by BLHA and the City of Berkeley Lake Saturday August 26, 2006
We are reviving a former Berkeley Lake tradition. Years ago residents from around the city elaborately decorated their boats for a shoreline parade a.k.a. Boat Regatta. See the 50th Anniversary Calendar, months of June and August for previous Regatta creations. In honor of the 50 year Celebration we are sponsoring a reenactment of this festive event. We encourage all residents, young and old, to decorate a boat, pontoon, kayak, etc. and exhibit your talent. Highly coveted prizes will be awarded for Most Imagination, Best Use of Materials, Most Outrageous, and more. There will also be categories for Kids and Non-Motorized. The overall theme for this year is"A Celebration of the Last Fifty Years" — consider concepts such as movies, tv shows, different decades, and music. So put on your thinking caps and let's see what you come up with. More details to come, but get working on your theme. This is a BLHA event open to all citizens of Berkeley Lake. Jessica Lombardi has volunteered to take on the daunting task of organizing the kids. Firstly, we need KIDS to decorate and BOATS to be decorated. If you have kids, and a boat you're willing to lend us, please let us know. If you don't have kids and you'd like to donate a boat to be decorated, please let us know. All kids in the City (and their friends) are welcome to participate in this fun event. Don't worry, your boat will not be trashed or damaged in any way. The event takes place on Saturday August 26. Participating boats can be tied up at the dock of 20 Lakeshore and should be delivered a few days before the event. Thank you for your help and enthusiasm in making this event a success.
